February – July at Tuggeranong Arts Centre

School Holidays

Bookings are now open for the following School Holiday programs in January: “Make a Mini Musical” with iconic Canberra artists Tim and Nathalie Bevitt (16 – 20 January), and the Fresh Funk Holiday Intensive on (24 – 25 January). Mural Painting with Karri McPherson and the Art & Action (art, dance and drama holiday program) in April, and A Little Bit of Blue puppet show and puppet making workshop in July are also open for booking.

Music & Live Performance

New in 2023, is the introduction of the Sing with Toby community choir kicking off on Tuesday 28 February and running weekly from 5:30pm – 7:00pm. The choir is free, and anyone aged 18 and over is welcome to sign up. Check out a bunch of other great stuff happening in TAC’s Music and Live Performance Program.

Art & Drama Classes for Kids / Teens

A new partnerships with the Canberra Youth Theatre will see a new weekly drama class for teenagers starting in Tuggeranong from February 2023. TAC is also expanding the Make Art at TAC program to include two kids classes (6 – 8 years and 9-12 years) and Funky Fairytales.

Art classes for Adults

Due to popular demand, TAC’s Making Time art class for seniors will run a second weekly class in 2023. Every Body monthly life drawing continues and a 6-monthly season pass is available until 17 February. Two new six-week painting intensives, with artist Lily Platts, commence in February and are now open for bookings. Adults can also take part in Fresh Funk dance classes (details below).

Fresh Funk Dance Classes

Canberra’s leading hip-hop and contemporary dance program, Fresh Funk continues to offer multiple performance opportunities and 19 different weekly classes for people of all ages. The Littlies Program has classes for kids aged 18-months to 9 years. Participants of the Performance Program commit to 2 school terms of classes (one semester) and work towards a big end of semester show season.  

Exhibition Program

The Exhibition Program opens with Andrea Bryant: A Lens on the Lake (Foyer Gallery); Louise Curham: Kambah (Gallery 1) and Ruby Lucia Ballantyne: Play Date (Gallery 2). In March, Tuggeranong Arts Centre welcomes Mark Dober, with his exhibition On the Banks of the Murrumbidgee – a series of landscapes made at various sites along the Murrumbidgee River and Incidental TV by Nicci Haynes, also opening on March 31. Intertidal by Jennifer Procter follows in June.

The Messengers Program

Messengers offers a range of programs including weekly term-based group arts programs, holiday programs and parenting seminars. Messengers is offered to young people who require support for a range of different reasons, predominately those experiencing early signs of anxiety, depression, self-harm and other mental health issues.
